Boys U15 Team Reports

MATCH RESULTS:

Boys Under 15 SW League Glos 1 v Glos 2 v Glos 3
Glos 1 v Glos 2 4th Feb 2007

Played at Strings, Tewkesbury on Sunday 4th Jan 2007. In the most interesting round of the Boys U15 SWL draw, all three Gloucestershire teams met in a play-off. With Glos 1 fielding their full strength 'dream team' and the Glos 2 & 3 teams suffering with seasonal flu and colds, there was only ever going to be one outcome. Angus managed the day very well juggling players despite the cold courts and even colder balcony. The outcome was expected but all players played in the spirit of the game. Bob's Glos 1 team now march on with only Warwickshire to beat in March to take the SWL title.

Boys Under 15 SW League Team 1
Glos v Avon 14th Jan 2007

The boys U15 SW League team 1 travelled to Redwood Lodge in Bristol. A great venue and well known to most of the players as one which hosts annual junior tournaments. The Glos players quickly made themselves at home and relaxed into the facilities with a gentle warm-up. The team played very well with all players winning in some style. Both matches were played in good spirit with many of the players knowing each other from other events. The only disappointing aspect was the lack of hospitality for the travelling non-players, not even a cup of tea! Angus will need to take a flask when he visits this venue for his SWL match!

Boys Under 15 SW League Team 1
Glos v Devon 14th Jan 2007

The second match at Redwood Lodge showed more controlled squash on a much stronger team. Yet again, Glos 1 showed that even when there was more pressure, they were able to raise their games to produce the necessary results. Thanks to Paul Watkins again for his support.

Boys Under 15 SW League Team 2
Glos v Wilts 14th Jan 2007

Preparations for the match were a bit fraught with the January transfer window open.
One of the managers (who shall remain nameless – for clues think of a female cross dressing manservant called Kate in Blackadder II) tried to poach Bradley from my squad but after a “bung” from a second manager Bradley was on a 1 day loan for Gloucestershire 3.

Glos v Dorset 14th Jan 2007

A nice meal provided by the parents of the Wilts players was partaken in, (and I did not eat all the home made jam sponge cake – there were at least two portions left when I was finished!). My thanks to David Ford for driving down and I hope that Wesley gets rid of his cough soon.

Glos U15(3) were due to play Somerset and Warwickshire on Sunday 14th Jan. However, Somerset's withdrawl meant that Warks were happy to travel to Riverside. Boys Under 15 SW League Team 1
Wilts v Glos

The boys U15 SW League Team 1 travelled to Sailsbury in Wiltshire on 5th November 2006 to play in their first South West League. On Guy Fawkes day, the team were certainly there to set the courts on fire with the performance. In a short match against the less experienced Wiltshire team, the Glos players were ruthless. All five matches were rapped up in less than an hour with only a handful of game points lost. Great team spirit and good sportsmanship was shown by the Glos players throughout the day. With this result and the second match with Somerset, the 'dream' team are off to a good start.

Boys Under 15 SW League Team 1
Somerset v Glos

The second match in Sailsbury was against Somerset. Again, following refuelling at lunch and some warming up in the dance studio, Glos came out flying. Another great demonstration by the Glos players showed them totally dominating their opponents in some well controlled squash.

Boys Under 15 SW League Team 2
Results of Boys U15 SWL Match at Strings, Tewkesbury on November 5th 2006.
Gloucestershire 2 got of to a good start on Sunday with all players winning 3-0 against Avon. Most of that Avon players had not played county squash before and there attitude on and off court have to be praised.
Warwickshire then played Avon with a similar result. This set up the afternoon for a big finale. Glos 2 got of to a bad start with both Bradley and Seb going down 3-0. On court 3,however, Dominic was playing really well and retrieving everything that James Prendeville was hitting. On Court 2, Tom had got off to a poor start loosing the first.
When he won the second 9-1 I thought the match hinged on Dominic winning. He was 7/0 down in the fourth but came back to 7/7 before serving out. James Prendeville took the next two points to win the match for Warwickshire.
Tom and Sam were just playing for pride but when the cold got the best of Sam I think it affected Tom's fifth game.
Well done boys. The next match we travel to warmer climate in the south.
