Gloucestershire Girls Riding High

REPORTS:

A very young Girls Under 17 Gloucestershire squash team qualified for the Finals at Surrey Sports Park on 18/19 March. In the team, in merit order, was Ellie Lake, Kip Quiney, Florie Smith, Jade Rothman, Maddi Payne and Beth Parker. In the Semi Finals Gloucestershire played Northumbria and comfortably beat them 4:1. Unfortunately an injured Jade fought courageously to beat Charlotte Cooper but had to withdraw next day. Beth Parker played in the Finals against Laura Mullarkey from Surrey and impressively took a game. Ellie played some flawless squash against Georgie Ingham, nationally ranked one higher, to beat her convincingly 3:0. Kip had another epic match against Katie Wilson but was again the victor winning 3:2. Regrettably Gloucestershire narrowly lost the tie against Surrey 2:3 but were content to take the runner up title with a very strong young team, well worth watching next season.
