Gloucestershire's Under 15 Boys team travelled to Manchester for the
Inter County Final on the 13th/14th May 2006. Although fielding
a young team (most of them are eligible to play U15 next year),
they all played very well.
In the Semi-final they played Cambridge (the eventual winners) and lost by 4 matches to 1. Tom Ford won his
match at Number 4 and Mark Broekman had some close games with the Cambridge
Number 1. Will Hewer played at Number 5 but could not beat the strong Cambridge Number 5.
On Sunday we played Yorkshire who had lost a close Semi-final to Surrey by 3 matches to 2.
Tom Ford and Nathan Lake both won their matches at 3 and 4 and Sam Davidson lost a
hard-fought battle 3-1 playing at Number 2. Mark lost to the Yorkshire Number 1
(British Number 1) and Will Fell also lost playing at Number 5 so we eventually finished in 4th place.
All the boys played and behaved very well all weekend and it was a pleasure
to take them and watch them perform against such high level competition.
Let's hope we can repeat the success next year!
